A new mobile app, Staffluent, aims to save hospital staff some time. When employees call in sick or can’t make it to their assigned shift, staff members need to spend time calling a phone tree to get someone to fill in. Isn’t there an easier way? Staffluent thinks so.

This new app sends a message to staffers when a shift has opened up, and they can then accept or decline that shift. Once someone picks it up, the mobile app will inform the hospital.

An app like this will definitely help healthcare to move forward technologically. After all, restaurants use similar apps for waiters to pick up and release shifts, and schools use mobile apps to schedule substitute teachers.

Are there any other mundane tasks in healthcare that could be taken care of by a mobile app?
