Hospital Orthopedics Marketing Campaign features World Cup Athlete

Smith & Jones launches new hospital advertising campaign for Ellis Medicine

“Being a 17-year-old athlete, surgery is the last thing you want, but [Ellis] made it very comforting for me and I knew that I was in the right hands,“ said Kayla Treanor, a sports medicine patient at Ellis Medicine.

Kayla is a talented athlete who played in the World Cup on the U.S. team for Women’s Lacrosse, as well as on the varsity teams at her high school in Niskayuna, NY. One day at practice she twisted her ankle and had to get reconstructive surgery, which she chose to have done at Ellis Medicine.

This fall she is off to play college lacrosse and is thankful for the care she received at Ellis. “Any athlete would be lucky to have the care that I had,” said Kayla.

Kayla is one of three Ellis patients featured in the hospital system’s current campaign, “Orthopedic Conversations.” The campaign uses candid interviews that focus on the patients and their experiences at Ellis Medicine, developed by Troy-based healthcare marketing agency Smith & Jones.

Orthopedic Conversations is part of a multi-channel advertising and branding campaign for the hospital system. This campaign features long-form web videos on the Ellis Medicine website and text, display and Facebook advertisements that invite viewers to watch the patients’ stories.

The other patients that appear in this campaign are Ron Baldwin and Lynne Dinon, who received a hip replacement and total knee replacement, respectively.

Ron shared in his video, “I think we are very fortunate to have Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. I feel very fortunate.”
