Ellis Cardiac Campaign Wins Gold

The 2011 Cardio Vascular Advertising Awards announced that Ellis Medicine received the Gold Award in the total advertising campaign category. The Schenectady-based hospital system was recognized for the Heart2Heart campaign created by Smith & Jones. Ellis Medicine competed with hospitals throughout the United States and Canada with 300-499 beds. Of more than 500 similar sized hospitals, Ellis was the only hospital to receive a Gold Award in this category.

“Ellis Medicine is reinventing healthcare by examining and improving our processes and services,” said Jim Connolly, President and Chief Executive Officer at Ellis Medicine. “We are one of the top hospitals in New York State, yet no one realizes it. We achieve the same clinical outcomes and results as other major medical centers like the Cleveland Clinic. This campaign, and others created by Smith & Jones, is building awareness for our mission.”

The CardioVascular Advertising Awards is an exclusive competition recognizing the nation’s most talented healthcare marketing professionals for outstanding advertising for cardiac-related specific service lines. Entries are judged based on creativity, layout/design, typography, production, knowledge transfer and overall quality.

The Heart2Heart campaign was the first service line campaign in a rebranding project for Ellis Medicine, an acute hospital care provider in Schenectady, New York. It features candid, honest interviews with patients, doctors and staff to communicate the idea of “reinventing healthcare, one patient at a time.”

Creative elements for the Ellis cardiac campaign appeared in local and regional banner ad networks, print and outdoor media, and on-site signage.
